Well, my loves, I so hope you’re all looking after yourselves and keeping safe with everything else’s that’s going on. The Buckingham Hotel is a haven for waifs and strays - posh ones, wealthy ones, exiled ones, and the staff, thinned down as you would expect, are still expected to maintain the luxury they guests demand, including the Grand Ballroom. It’s Jack and the Beanstalk at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, and it’s going to be absolutely terrific! This, the fourth instalment in my Buckingham Hotel series, is due to be released on the 11th November, and I believe I’m as excited now as I was when my first novel was published – I so hope you’re going to enjoy it!
In 2018, Anton realised his boyhood ambition and published the first in a series of bestselling novels set in the 1930s world of the exclusive Mayfair hotel, The Buckingham. Yes this is book 5 of the Buckingham series, but you do not need to have read any of the others to delve in and enjoy this book. There are a few new characters to this book and actually overall there are lots of characters to keep track of however there is a helpful page of the characters' names and who they are at the beginning of the book which you can refer to and wish more authors would do this. Safety always comes first, and Erin and I have been in discussions with our tour organiser Raymond Gubbay: we are in agreement that we should, very sadly, postpone our 2021 ‘Showtime’ tour until 2022. It was a great page turning and it was such a lovely feeling catching up with all our favourite characters again. Royalty from other countries are flocking there for the duration of the war, so the hotel manages to keep busy. I met John, and I was with John for a number of years, having lessons every week, and I went in a completely different path. His partner for the fifth series was TV presenter Kate Garraway; the couple were voted out in week seven.Erin and I are absolutely thrilled to be back in January 2022 with our brand new production ‘ Showtime‘, celebrating some of the very greatest icons in show business! Combining the glamour of the ballroom with the horror of the beaches of Dunkirk, this thoroughly engaging story set mainly in a luxury hotel had me in a whirl! From my favourite Strictly moments – the sheer delight of working with dear Sir Brucie, the fabulous pro dance routines, and of course all my sensational partners from over the years – so many classic performances, and wonderful stories to tell. I thought this series had ended as after Book 5 we had the authors new series appear, but no Book 6 then arrived…. He was the toast of the Buckingham Hotel's Grand Ballroom, and is going to host One Grant Night to raise much needed money for the war effort. On 24 June 2021, it was announced that Du Beke would become a permanent judge on Strictly Come Dancing from series nineteen, starting in September 2021, replacing Bruno Tonioli.On Christmas Day 2019, Du Beke surprised Craig Revel Horwood as a guest in the Christmas Midnight Gameshow in Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show. For my part this was an undemanding read, with recognisable tropes and a certain old-fashioned charm. Of course that is unrealistic so We'll Meet Again is a heartfelt story of love, tough decisions, rousing declarations of patriotic pride and ordinary people coming together in dark times as well as those lit by the sparkle and glamour of a dance floor's chandeliers. Our brand new tour, Showtime, gets a big plug – and the trailer video is just fabulous – dates are now booking for 2022, postponed of course from last year.
Just imagine Archie Adams striking up his band as we step back in time, together, into the Grand Ballroom at the Buckingham Hotel – and we dance like it’s 1938! It's September 1940 and war around London is heavy and fierce with continued bombings and air raids.There was a few times my attention did falter, I think it was more to do with his writing style though which sadly I don’t think was for me. His debut album reached the Top 20, and his annual sell-out tours have been thrilling dance fans in theatres nationwide for over a decade. I’m not sure there are words to describe how overjoyed I am at taking a seat on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel – such a thrill and a privilege… it really is my dream job!
