Description

Whilst some recipes take more time than others, and have flavors that are stronger than others, there is always something for everyone. Our purpose is to share our passion and knowledge with everyone to teach how they can cook more and have a good time while doing it. Dishoom (the book, not our favorite restaurant in all of the UK) is so much more than a “Cookery Book and Highly Subjective Guide to Bombay With Map. Based on the popular London chain of restaurants, this book takes one on a virtual journey through a day in Mumbai eating and exploring. THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER 'A love letter to Bombay told through food and stories, including their legendary black daal' Yotam Ottolenghi At long last, Dishoom share the secrets to their much sought-after Bombay comfort food: the Bacon Naan Roll, Black Daal, Okra Fries, Jackfruit Biryani, Chicken Ruby and Lamb Raan, along with Masala Chai, coolers and cocktails.

The amount of time, energy and love that has gone into making Dishoom the establishment it is today is mind-blowing, and the owners deserve every accolade that has come their way.So many utterly delightful entries but if I had to pick one that has become a staple in our household, it would have to be the simple Masala Chai with its splendid parenthetical admonishment (“By the way, chai simply means “tea.

It is structured around a tour of Bombay (old name preferred), taking in a lot of history, social history and architecture, particularly relating to the Irani community. Often, restaurant cookbooks have great photos and stories but the recipes don't match the quality of the restaurant offerings.

We hope that this beautiful cookery book will transport you to our most treasured corners of Bombay. I have genuinely feared that my favourite place to eat will not be there the next time I come to the capital. Such beautiful recipes that anybody can do but the authentic pictures that accompany the recipes the information about Bombay that is dotted through the book makes this book a fantastic read. What goes by the name of ‘Bombay food’ is like the city itself – cosmopolitan, colourful and, in many ways, chaotic. Dishoom breaks down barriers by bringing people together over food and drink: in its restaurants, at its events, and through charity (donating a meal for every meal, with 8 million meals donated so far). I enjoyed the story throughout immensely, such vivid descriptions of, what sounds to be, a perfect time exploring and eating in Bombay. I borrowed this ebook from my library, but I will be purchasing a copy asap so I can make so many of these recipes in the future. The recipes themselves are divided across different elements of the day, from breakfast through morning snacks through to the Bilboesque Third Dinner and Pudding. One of my all time favorite cookbooks, this is one of the few cookbooks (out of 600+) that I make room for on my kitchen shelf. Biography: Dishoom serves a much-loved menu of Bombay comfort food and award-winning drinks in beautiful restaurants that each have a unique story. For anyone who doesn't know Dishoom, or never visit one of its restaurants, the introductory chapter will make you want to catch the first plane to go eat in one of its eight restaurants.

Like its carefully observed, pitch perfect restaurants, Dishoom's cookbook is a feast for all the senses, and brings the restaurant's delicious dishes into the home kitchen.
