The birds and eggs can be removed, and all 3 birds have movable wings, making this a fun set for kids to display in different ways.

Not sure what I would improve, but I would think some layering or making it so the tail ended in a pointy way would’ve gone a long way in making it look more organic. These beautiful and detailed models come with their own presentation stands showing their scientific names, so that you can display your birds for all to enjoy or detach and play as you wish. The brown 'Plate' would have been nice in transparent but I may be mistaken, but it could be its feet?It contains various small LEGO® parts to build, disassemble and remake various designs of small birds. This set was designed by the very talented Steen Sig Andersen who has been with The LEGO Group for a very long time and it really shows. On the back, we get more watercolour goodness in the form of a map which pinpoints each Bird’s native location and a helpful diagram showing the exact dimensions of each Bird model.

I have two complaints which I have with most LEGO sets: when having SNOT techniques used in a LEGO set is requires you to assemble an opposite colour to the brick/s it will attached on to.Unlike the relatively complex builds of the Robin and Blue Jay, the Hummingbird was an extremely straightforward model. The Hummingbird flitting around the flower is a powerfully attractive image and more than makes up for its low piece count. Birds is such a refreshing revelation to me as an adult LEGO fan and I really want this set to sell well.

After all, this is YOUR baby and unless you’re happy with the blog swerving about in it’s writing style, content, topics etc, it’s definitely going to need the reigns firmly in place. and wonderfully unusual birds like the incredibly rare kakapo, a flightless creature previously seen on this site.

This set also includes 3 booklets containing lots more information about each of these fascinating species as well as the creator of these amazing models.

The Blue Jay’s only bizarre fault is his legs, which is mostly constructed out of Technic parts and are fused to the platform that it’s perched upon. I also really liked the clever use of cheese slopes and tiles to create the Robin’s textured appearance, especially around its head. Brickset, the Brickset logo and all content not covered by The LEGO Group's copyright is, unless otherwise stated, ©1997-2024 Brickset ltd.Even the Hubble Telescope in its original incarnation before Lego collaborates with the designer, is WAY too big. Over that last few years Birds has been a particularly good investment for Ideas collectors with an annualized growth of upwards of 10.
