This one’s a favourite of mine, largely for the lyric ‘ the baggy sweatpants and the Reeboks with the straps‘. There were omissions during this era of 2008 from Madonna, McFly, Busta Rhymes, Nickelback, Kelly Rowland, Fall Out Boy, Adele, Freemasons, The Fratellis, Goldfrapp and Maroon 5 just to name a few. The first two volumes were not released on compact disc, and all subsequent releases were either single, double, or triple disc sets. Some of the Special Editions have identical names, although a few of these titles are followed by their year of release. Each release is issued as a limited edition mini-hardback book, with the CDs in sleeves forming the pages of the ' yearbook' which contains an introductory overview of the year, original 7" single artwork, trivia, chart positions and a quiz.

My hair was still longer than Geth’s (it’s been a good few years since that was the case) and we sort of both had ill-conceived hair dye going on (dudes just don’t get highlights done any more – I wonder why that particular trend remained firmly in the ’00s? Credit subject to status, UK residents only, Entertainment Magpie Limited t/a Music Magpie acts as a broker and offers finance from a restricted range of finance providers, PayPal Credit is a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH. From 2003, and until 2010, there was one special edition released each year, covering a decade (80s, 90s and 00s), or a cross section of big hits celebrating the Now series ( Now Decades, Now Years, Now Dance) - however, from 2011, they became much more frequent, and in 2017, there were fifteen different titles released. Now Dance 92 (2 November 1992) Uniquely, 2-LP/2-MC/CD* with 12" mixes,*single CD with abridged tracklisting and 7" edits. All series with the exception of United Kingdom and the United States have been discontinued, New Zealand had two more albums released as a playlist only on Spotify, South Africa had three more albums released as a playlist on Spotify under DJ Kurtis. Following Ronnie's continued battle with alcohol he has entered a period of rehab,’ his spokeswoman said.

They are also notable as being the first time a Now series had released a compilation of hits from the years 1980 to 1982. Lovely tune on the backing track, but then there’s a lot of clashing sung vocals (which are a hideous chipmunk-tuned sample of Westlife’s Written In The Stars) and rapping and it all gets far too messy. Due to licensing issues, these re-compiled versions often use alternative mixes such as album versions.

The 4-CD series follows the same general format of the original Special Editions series, with genre, era, and decade collections, but over four compact discs (there is also an abridged vinyl version of Punk and New Wave and Rock), meaning they contain more tracks than the original special editions, but fewer than the Now 100 Hits, which preceded this series. These compilations are very similar to the anniversary series, however, they contain a lower amount of tracks and retailed much cheaper than the former series. The Yearbook series are 4-CD and 3-LP vinyl sets, each representing a year of music, which launched in June 2021. I’ll probabaly get caned for saying this here but We Cry is actually my fav front Disc 2 My all time favourite song from The Script and is pretty much them at their finest (as they do go downhill after Hall of Fame).

November 2020) David Bowie, Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald, and the Real Roxanne are the tracks that are missing. or Now 70 is a compilation album that was released on 21 July 2008 on Compact Disc and digital download format. Not a bad volume for me and includes some great songs, though I did think 2008 was one of the poorer years of the 00's. and as usual, the new-version-with-a-year-added-to-the-title is not different enough from the first version to justify including it again! It was described as acceptable so I was expecting it to be badly damaged , but for 1p I took a risk, It was only dented a bit on the side and it was hardly noticeable i was well happy.

On This Day In HistoryRolling Stone guitarist Ronnie Wood was ‘seeking help’ with his battle with alcohol in a rehabilitation centre. A triple-CD only release, Yearbook Extra: The Collectors Edition, is issued a few weeks later; these include lesser known tracks and more songs by big artists included on the main album and they are released only in standard gatefold wallet packaging. Released in association with the Official Chart Company to "celebrate 70 years of the official UK singles chart". on 24 July 2015, the release dates in the UK and Ireland have been the same following the announcement of the Global Release Day campaign by IFPI, which became effective on 10 July 2015. There were a couple of good dances to this on Strictly at the time, so I mainly associate it with that.

Originally, the series captured extended 12" mixes of dance hits of the time, but from 1991 onwards, all Now Dance compilations featured 7" edits with only occasional extended versions or mixes included. I was just a little bit disappointed that artists like Adele, Nickelback, Fall Out Boy, MGMT and Cahill got overlooked for this volume. The Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag sample is obviously awesome, but it jars pretty badly with the vocals, which themselves are kind of a rip-off of Mousse T’s Horny. The move followed tabloid speculation over the state of his 23-year marriage to former model Jo Wood. Jackson 5, Billy Ocean and The Real Thing bring the first disc to a close – but not before some stomping glam pop from Sweet, Mud, Wizzard and T.For the 30th anniversary of Now in 2013 and the release of Now 100 in Summer 2018, the first Now album was re-compiled and re-issued. Disc 1 kicks off with one of the most enduring songs ever from the legendary ABBA with ‘Mamma Mia’ and continues with back-to-back No. Towards the end of the series, 3-CD digipak sets were issued, but in 2010, the long-running title was retired, and all subsequent dance-themed Now collections have been issued under the Special Editions series. The Now Yearbook series continues both forwards, with Now Yearbook 1985 issued in November 2022, and backwards, with the release of Now Yearbook 1979 in September 2022 (an Extra followed in October). Mull Of Kintyre’ from Wings makes the perfect song to conclude our journey through the pop goldmine of the 1970s.
