ROOM 30 3=+ 5704843 BL 41725-02 D1 QUEEN Greatest Hits II, rarely available on vinyl, features their latter-day songs, the band members' solo hits and the band's collaborations with other artists including Elton John, Montserrat Caballé, George Michael and Wyclef Jean. Built around an improvised studio jam, their infectious David Bowie collaboration Under Pressure became a global chart-topping smash. The retro-futurist epic Radio Gaga and the humorously romantic I Want To Break Free stand as testaments to their early mastery of synthesizers, while the muscular ripcord riffs of Hammer To Fall and octave-vaulting grand-piano acrobatics of It’s a Hard Life are vintage Queen both sonically and lyrically. The different colours look amazing. The choices they used were fantastic, though I just wish they made Queen II 45rpm instead of two etchings. They are still pretty cool so I'll let it slide.Greatest Hits III, rarely available on vinyl, features their more contemporary offerings, the band members’ solo hits, and collaborations with other artists including Elton John, Montserrat Caballé, George Michael, and Wyclef Jean. Greatest Hits II was released shortly after lead singer Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991 and spans the outfit’s career from 1981 to 1991. The era dawned a new outlook for the group as they dropped their guitar-heavy sound and embraced the power of the synthesizer. Highlights on the record include the David Bowie assisted “Under Pressure” and the humorously romantic “I Want to Break Free.” The set is housed in a gold coloured box with a flip-open lid. The box has the Queen name in logo form on the front and STUDIO COLLECTION just beneath, along with the Queen crest near the bottom. Reviews

I would say at least 4-5 of these discs were unbearably noisy. The worst offenders were A Night at the Opera and News of the World, but they came out mostly quiet after a good clean. You have to keep in mind that this was re-pressed at Optimal which is now having problems keeping up with demand and is pressed on coloured vinyl. Living up to its name, The Platinum Collection is certified 5x Multi-Platinum in the US and was recently certified by the UK music industry organization the BPI as having gone 8 x Platinum, representing sales of 2.4 million achieved since its June 2011 re-release as part of Queen's 40th anniversary celebrations.
